About this course

Three-day high risk work licence training for boom-type EWPs with a boom length of 11 metres or more, including planning, operation and emergency procedures.

What the course covers

  • High risk work licensing and legislative requirements
  • Plan and prepare for boom-type EWP operations
  • Site and ground assessment, outriggers and set-up
  • Pre-operational checks and machine familiarisation
  • Operating the boom safely at height and near hazards
  • Powerline clearances, exclusion zones and spotters
  • Emergency and ground rescue procedures
  • Assessment against the national high risk work standard

  • Operators applying for a WP high risk work licence
  • Construction, maintenance and telecommunications teams
  • Anyone working from a boom lift above 11 metres

Before you enrol

  • 18 years or older
  • Photo ID and a Unique Student Identifier (USI)
  • Sufficient English language, literacy and numeracy to complete the licence assessment
  • Working at heights training strongly recommended

On completion

Notice of Satisfactory Assessment on successful completion, used to apply to WorkSafe Queensland for your WP high risk work licence.
